We’re excited to announce the launch of the new BHAA Assessors Qualifications for 2025!
For Coach Qualifications before 1st January 2025
Entry criteria:
- Hold a BHAA Coaching Qualification (achieved before 1st January 2025)
- Hold a current BHAA Membership
- Hold insurance for coaching HBA (either the BHAA Insurance or private)
For coaches who achieved their Coaching qualifications before the 1st of January 2025, you are invited to immediately attend the online Assessor’s Training sessions at your level (Club, Intermediate or Advanced), and will be able to begin assessing as soon as you have completed the online training.
For Coach Qualifications achieved after 1st January 2025
Apply to become a Club Assessor
Entry criteria:
- Hold a BHAA Club Coach Qualification (achieved after the 1st of January 2025)
- Hold a current BHAA Membership
- Hold insurance for coaching HBA (either BHAA Insurance or private)
- Logbook completed (please see below)
When applying to take the Club Assessors training course, you must submit a logbook demonstrating a minimum of 15 hours of coaching at Club level. Upon completion of the online training, you may begin assessing.
Club Assessors may assess:
- Club Horseback Archer (all modules)
- Range Safety Officer (ground & mounted)
Apply to become an Intermediate Assessor
Entry criteria:
- Hold BHAA Intermediate Coach Qualification (achieved after the 1st of January 2025)
- Hold a current BHAA Membership
- Hold insurance for coaching HBA (either BHAA Insurance or private)
- Logbook completed (please see below)
When appling to take the Intermediate Assessors training, you must submit a logbook demonstrating a minimum of 20 hours coaching at Intermediate level, and a minimum of 10 module assessments at Club HBA level (this may be 2 people for the full Club syllabus, or more people if only assessing singular modules).
Intermediate Assessors may assess:
- Club Horseback Archer (all modules)
- Range Safety Officer (ground & mounted)
- Intermediate Horseback Archer (all modules)
- Club Coach (all modules)
Apply to become an Advanced Assessor
Entry criteria:
- Hold BHAA Advanced Coach Qualification (achieved after the 1st of January 2025)
- Hold a current BHAA Membership
- Hold insurance for coaching HBA (either BHAA Insurance or private)
- Logbook completed (please see below)
When appling to take the Advanced Assessors training, you must submit a logbook demonstrating a minimum of 40 hours coaching at Advanced level, and a minimum of 10 module assessments at Intermediate HBA level (this may be 2 people for the full Intermediate syllabus, or more people if only assessing singular modules).
Advanced Assessors can assess:
- Club Horseback Archer (all modules)
- Range Safety Officer (ground & mounted)
- Intermediate Horseback Archer (all modules)
- Club Coach (all modules)
- Advanced Horseback Archer (all modules)
- Intermediate Coach (all modules)
- Advanced Coach* Advanced Coach requires the signature of a second Advanced Assessor for a minimum of 1 module
Ground Only Assessors
For BHAA Ground coaches, you may apply to become a Ground Archery Assessor. The entry criteria is the same, and Ground Archery Assessors can assess the Archery Theory & Practical modules for the relevant levels, as well as the Archery Coach module for the coaching qualifications at the relevant level.
