Trial membership lasts 1 week to allow someone to try the sport before committing to full membership.

It is half the full membership fees and may be topped up to full membership within that calendar year.

It is only available on one occasion, not repeatedly year after year.

It doesn’t allow participation at the BHAA National Championships or taking BHAA qualifications, you must have full membership for these.

Non-riding membership (£10) is available for those who will not be riding or shooting but nonetheless wish to lend their support to the BHAA.

It also allows RSOs and referees who are not full members to be covered by the BHAA’s insurance policy during their involvement in sessions.

The first time a person joins they should send a completed membership form (also available in Word format) to the Membership secretary; Michael Ruby, 67 Vicarage Road, Ware, Herts, SG12 7AP. Payment can be made by cheque or bank transfer. If you have any queries please email This email address is being protected from spambots. Members are issued with a membership card and are eligible to vote at the AGM and stand for a committee position. Membership of the BHAA is a precondition for participation in BHAA training courses and competitions.
